Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Pr-10?

This (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/bik/2051964821.html) one seemed a few cm too small, but it was nearby, so I thought I'd check it out. It was my first time on a "nice" Peugeot. Such a joy to ride.

I'm assuming from the painted Simplex dropouts that it's a PR-10? Was it typical to find the fancy black lugs on them? He said that he would take $400 for it, but that still seemed way too high for a non-PX-10, based on the little research I've done.

To be quite honest, $400 even seems high.

I'd make it out to be a PR10 also. The 73 catalog (http://mysite.verizon.net/vzerndgo/id40.html) shows that they're practically identical except the painted DO's and 3 tube vs full Reynolds.
Either way I'm sure it is a fine riding bike.

This one seems to include the tubulars as well as a set of nice clincher wheels - of the Helicomatic persuasion I might add. Some people dislike them due to wear concerns but they have their fans, including yours truly. The cranks is a plus too, for some people.

I'd say $400 would be reasonable - though the seller could have at least installed new bar tape for the photo.

Yeah, the bar tape is rough and the paint on the lugs is clumpy and looks like it was redone. Also, some rust on the seat post under the saddle. Otherwise, really nice. I just don't see spending this much when I can find a PX-10 for the same price.

Herculean, I'm growing concerned about you. :( This PR10 is too small for you. You stated that a 60cm frame was your size. And what happened to the great PX10 in San Diego? Bring me the Advil, I'm getting a headache.

Unless you can get it for $50 - Don't even bother looking at it if it's small for you!

Factory Peugeot paint quality seems to have been spotty at best so it may well be original.

$400.00 does seem a bit on the high side unless it;s the perfect bike for you.

This bike search is giving my girlfriend a headache as well.
