unbiased facts
pros;
-cheap, about half than a super pista
-thicker aluminum than ftp/pista concept/mash
-decent customer service
-1 1/8 ht, 27.2 post - all the correct standards
-removable decals
cons;
-heavy, but not too bad
some warnings;
-some say the rear wheel hits the seat tube. i think this is fixed with the v2. just something to look out for if you buy used
could be pros, could be cons - you decide
-integrated headset
-drilled for brakes

i have an old steel Schwinn that i thought was really heavy, especially compared to my now Nishiki frame. where would a Leader come in on this?
any new production frame is going to blow each away, unless your nishiki is an olympic or track. the 725 included. the 722ts is probably comparable to a great condition nishiki track.

great frame. if you were thinking of buying it, go ahead. you wont regret it.
Maybe spend a little more for leader's carbon fork.
I'm pretty sure when I get the cash im going to pick up the frame. Right now i'm looking for an out of state vendor with free shipping so I don't have to pay sales tax. Going to build it up with Black super Veeps Probably B123's and Black OMNOMNOMNOMIUMS

Some shops could insert pem nuts for you or you could use hose clamps to clamp cages to the seat tube.
whats wrong with saddle mounts?

The 721 is basically the same as a 725 but with a standard seat tube/seat post clamp. IMO, the non-aero seat tube looks out of place and I prefer the 725.

LOL I just scored a 727tr for less than a benjamin...
would ride a 727 for less than a bill. wouldn't for more.

They're all auctions but usually end with really low prices. If an auction already ended, you wouldn't see it at all.
I've actually been looking at scoring one of the frames from Coghouse but apparently Leader is really good at making my-sized frames because I've never seen one that I could work with. =(

Because all the frames Coghouse sells are blemished/older Leaders and their location is San Diego, it must be Leader selling off stuff that can't be sold for full retail price. That's just my guess, though.

Yup and I saved off shipping; thanks to grad skool @ UCSD. :lol::D
Turns out their warehouse is right next to the San Diego Costco.
happypills- what are you going to grad school for? how do you save on shipping just by going to ucsd? i am considering grad school at the moment, and i strangely miss socal.

He saved on shipping because he was able to pick up the frame as opposed to having it shipped.
balls. i was thinking maybe they had a shipping thing for educational institutions or something.
Just a word of warning:

Lucky you. I was bidding on a 49cm, but it ended up selling for $135 with the winning bidder having 2 over bids, so my guess is that the actual bid was at least $150. I can't see paying over a c-note for a factory second, previous model and with no warranty.

Yup; I had the same mentality; but on another note, I've seen way worse factory seconds from other companies.... I received my frame with just 2 barely notice able hairline like machining marks on a raw frame under the clearcoat which coghouse indicated in the auction; seriously, they could've sold the frame as new and no one would be the wiser.... :rolleyes:
Anyways now we know leader has nazi quality control :lol:

Newsflash! Just won a Leader 721TR V.2 black frame from coghouse for well under a Benjamin ($81). One just like it sold for $75 3 days ago, so it seems like these frames can be had pretty cheap. I had held off paying for the Trick Star chrome fork V1 I won 2 days ago, and coghouse combined the shipping and charged me less than the frame alone, which I thought was very cool. I just got an email that it's already shipped, so should have it all by early next week. The frame is not supposed to have any defects, unlike the 727TR, just is not the latest version, which is V2.5 and retails for $219. I got the fork for under $29 with some blemishes, the V2 go for $99 at coghouse and the new ones (now called reaper) go for $159. I have no immediate plans for this frame, might turn it into a trackworthy race bike.
Edit: I guess this gets a pass into the Scrod fan club. :lol:

Whoa! TT got a LEADER??? :thumb: The 721 is a cool frame - basically a 725 but with a "normal" seat tube.
That rules. You totally need to put an Aerospoke on it.
yeah...i'm regretting 2 bills on the 725TR seeing all these deals. but I must say I like the 725 significantly more in terms of aesthetics.

Nice! I wonder who's next? :lol:
Anyways; if you guys are wondering what I'm doing with my bargain bin 727TR; I've yet to have even touched it. But I did get all the parts I needed for it already. I am however considering getting a custom paint job for it at area cycles.

They're also auctioning off the older versions of the 725TR >>> http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-49CM-TRACK-BIKE-FIX-LEADER-725TR-V-1-/380296646590?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588b724fbe

Legit. I'm not really into wacky paint jobs but a frame like the 727 almost needs one.

I saw that. They also just put up a bunch of S805 Carbon/steel forks with a 1" threaded steerer for 99 bucks shipped:

Wow, a custom paint job like that must cost a fortune. I think mine takes the same headset as yours; what did you get and how much did it cost? The one Leader sells costs $69, but hopefully I can find something cheaper. Also, what fork did you get? I'd like to get carbon with an aluminum steerer tube and about 1-1/4" offset.
