My ride is (sort of) done. I've been slowly refining it since I got back in February.

I like them very, very much. However, For ergonomic reasons I will be switching to integrated shifters. While the DT's don't really hinder me, my riding style has come to prefer the convenience of the integrated shifters.

No disrespect to that pretty DE Rosa of BBM, which is nice I prefer this Colnago which looks like it would chew it up on the road.

Funny, that's the same thought the came to mind, "That's a bad-ass looking bike!" Must be the combo of colors and parts, all integrated well. I especially like how the 10-speed chainring worked out, unlike BBM. That saw blade isn't as pleasing on the original DA crank.

Thank you, I built this bike with function and performance as the main priority. Riding it seems to indicate that I met that goal. :)

Thanks! I was kind of trying to go with an edgier, slightly provocative bike, aesthetically. I tend to like my bikes more subdued, or with sharp contrasting colors. I'm this way with cars and clothing, too. The beauty of this frame can't be captured with a camera either. It's very subtle. My camera is on the fritz though, so I will have to take better pictures with some other camera soon.

As for the crank, I'm very satisfied with the way it turned out too. I originally used Ultegra 6500 crank arms and khatfulled them to a mirror polish, but found that finish to be quite high maintenance. So, when I refinished the DA 7700 arms, I was careful to do a more satin brushed finish that wears better and fits my theme more closely. It really help because my ankles rub slightly when I spin and the finish changes from the very first ride.

It's the Deda Elementi Spada. I have two of these, and they work well for their intended purpose.

You're welcome. I like the fit and finish of these adapters more than ones by profile and others. They seem to be lighter too.

I think the Record threaded headsets are very low stack height, IIRC.

I think the Record threaded headsets are very low stack height, IIRC.

The original ones or the newest one? I think the originals are somewhere around 37mm overall. Would like something shorter. Thinking about this one:

Yes, with making it sound like some perverse measure of manhood (as some folks may see it), The fuji is positioned about optimal with 17.5cm. The Colnago has about 14cm, but with incrementally lower hooks. Changing the headset to something with a significantly lower stack height might net me another ~ 1.5cm. since the drops are slightly deeper on the Colnago than on the Fuji, that could nearly get me the rest of the way, or at least make my lowest position functionally similar.

Thank you. Actually, it's a little large in some dimensions. The odd geometry of the bike makes it fit the same as some of my bikes that are size 55-56. However, I prefer a 130mm head tube, and this bike came with a 150mm head tube. That has made it difficult to achieve the position I prefer, but I should be able to get close. On a frame with slacker angles, this size would be far too large for my taste. I wont be buying a frame this big again for a long time, since I fit a 54-56 more easily.

You just never see that much drop, but if you can make it work more power to you. I'd be interested to see how you're positioned on it. And hey thanks! Funny that your couch got complained about in both threads...

The Fuji gets my back pretty much horizontal in the drops. Something about that bike makes it feel amazing on the climbs. If I can get the 'Nago another 1.5-2.5 cm, that will probably do. I haven't found the optimal position for the Colnago yet. Something tells me the saddle needs to come forward and up a little. We will see what that does soon.

I'd like to see you take it outside in the sunlight, so we can really appreciate it. I feel like I'm losing details in the dark room! Never mind the couch ;).
