your local bike shop should have some for a reasonable price, especially if its run by old guys who are cool

ive noticed tan sidewalls are becomeing increasingly common on bikes around here in the midwest at least. ive seen em on a lot of the bmx bikes as well.

Panaracer Pasela Tourgaurds are very nice tanwall tires available in 27" sizes. Very popular among the vintage crown, and from personal experience, they are very good tires. They are available all over the internet for between $20-30.

if you want them in 27" you are in luck, they are all over the place... 700's with sidewalls are a little harder to come by.

No, tanwall tires are readily available for 700C.

Panaracer Pasela Tourgaurds come in 27 and 700 and are by far my favorite tire. Never had an issues, have great life even brakeless, and look rad.

Veloflx also make a Master & a Record tire in gumwall. They are racing tires.

Tan sidewalls are classic...they came on just about every bike in the world since we were kids.

They just make a bike look distinguished and that's why they're still popular.

Traditionally, no. Gum walls were low spec tires with heavy, natural or synthetic rubber coating the sidewalls. Skinwalls - like the ones in the OP's picture - were higher spec tan sidewall tires with only a very thin coating over the carcass cords, making for a lighter tire with more flexible sidewalls for lower rolling resistance.

Tan sidewall thread? Here's my recent pick-up. Its geared but I think looks kick ass with tan sidewalls. It originally came with tubulars but I had an old set of clinchers laying around. Naturally, it worked out perfectly with tan sidewalls

I don't make that distinction. That is how much effort is placed in making the gum wall to whatever specification is irrelevant ? You're going to find cheap and expensive versions of it either way. Every tire in this thread is a gum wall, not tan, not sandal wood nor w(hatever)tf they're calling gum walls today.
