I posted this in commuting, but haven't received any replies yet. Any ideas:

Hi all. I'm considering a 2009 Jamis Aurora. I've found an online price of $650, which seems good to me. I've read reviews, and one of them states that many of that year/model were missing the front rack mounts, and/or the cutout/relief or whatever it's called on the chainstays that allows for more tire clearance.

I spoke with the retailer, and he was gracious enough to check for me. He says that the Aurora has the front rack mounts, but does not have the chainstay reliefs. He further states that the Aurora Elite does have the reliefs.

Can anyone tell me if the frame should have the chainstay reliefs, or if that is how it was designed, and they are all that way? I've emailed Jamis, but I have no idea how long that will take.

Thanks!

I just bought 2009 Jamis Arurora from an online store. When I was assembling the bike today I did notice that it has no front rack mounts. After searching online I did read the one review that mentioned that and other problems. I have not seen any of the frame issues that was reported in the review. Obviously I have not ridden the bike enough to know if it has problems with the wheels.

Just in case anyone is interested. I talked to the bike shop that I bought the bike from and they contacted Jamis about the front fork missing the rack mounts. Jamis is replacing the fork under warranty. So at least they are willing to fix their mistake.
