Mountain Biking - I may have to pick up a DH bike...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You're going to Washington and need a Downhill bike?

Go here and Doug will take good care of you: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?671714-TRANSITION-BLINDSIDE-Frame-900-**REDUCED-PRICE**

^^ Thank, santiago, Reduced further - - I want to get it sold. If you do end up going to MBI, there are a few of us who can hook you up with some good rides - -DH, XC, whatever. Lots of opportunities here.

Also, is there good riding in Spokane? There is a lot of good riding in Spokane (and just outside Spokane too). The best part is that a lot of it you don't even need a car to get to. There are trailheads inside the city limits (some just out of the downtown core) that you can ride to and then ride. And there are a few shops here that host weekly rides at various locations, so you can quickly get plugged in with other people to ride with and learn the trail systems.

That is insane! When you said "you won't even need a car" my ears perked! I'm coming from atlanta and that's a 38 hour tho one way with nothing else on the road. I'm very excited and its pretty much a definate that I will be going to mbi this spring. also, about how far is the campus from the trail heads?

Johnny Law
11-15-10, 05:32 AM
and how far are you from spokane?

Dang, I may have to relocate to Spokane.

about how far is the campus from the trail heads? Here are a couple of examples: from the campus to west end (accessed from the parking lot of one of the municipal golf courses) of the Beacon Hill trail network = 3.5 miles

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=110600669631174723582.000493138a00421eb43b7

Or from campus west and south through downtown to the South Hill bluffs = 3.5 miles, over half of which can be car-free going on the Centennial trail, which runs through the Gonzaga U. campus (just south of where you'll be).

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4157869

Or you can keep going west another mile or less out the Cent. Trail to connect into the Riverside State Park trail network.

To answer your other question, I live 25 mi outside Spokane but I commute to Spokane for work every day.

Man! I am very excited! Just got off the phone with them and its 100%! Sell me a sick rig man! I will be on the trails every day after classes!

Hey D i was looking on the Spokane Craigslist and are those prices fairly cheap for DH bikes? here in Atl the prices are about 2x that for the same or worse stuff.

You really need to look close when buying Dh/ FR stuff. Not everyone takes care of there equipment like Never and D.

Pretty typical. With a local DH hill plus two lift-access parks inside 1½ hrs drive, there are a lot of DH riders here. Keep in mind a lot of that hardware is old; but Sundays are common as water.

To do that, D charges a nominal $800 fee. But don't worry, his pro inspection service includes a Transition Blindside frame gently used by the smoothest old guy to ever straddle a DH rig.

so your saying there should be no other option and it would be ridiculous for me to turn that offer away?

No, it's just D's fee and the free gift he provides to all of his customers.

Well then I think ut would be offensive to him if I turned down his services.

Doug is full of crap - no riding here - I think everyone drives cars, legal driving age is 4, Ithink it is illegal to ride bikes here.......

Really this is a great place to ride (Road, dirt, wood, etc) - let us know know when you get here.....between Doug and my LBS connections we can hook you up with a demo or 2.

Sounds like a plan! I will be there sometime early january, and from what I hear it will be very snowy! But you have to realize.. I can't go all out on a bike, I need something used but not abused
