Hello. I am looking into buying some new Nitto RB018 bars and was wondering if anyone knew a site to find them for cheaper than like $50. Thanks!

No. I like Dimension cruiser bars. And they can generally be had for under $20.

Nitto costs because its good Japanese quality. I like the Albatross bar its my favorite bar.

The quality they offer is not particularly good compared to other makers that offer products in a similar price range, but it's still pretty good.

generally I find amazon or CRC to be the best places for large parts like handlebars.

Nitto make some of the absolute highest quality bars, stems & seat posts hands down. Even Campagnolo could not keep their NJS certification.

Keep your eye on eBay's Wheel and Sprocket, they have a sale on Nitto RB-018 and RB-021 for sale once in a while for ~$25.

i found a B115 for ten bucks used that was so fresh it looked like it had been ridden less than ten miles. clean up bartape adhesive with goo gone and bam, good to go.

When does NJS certification correlates to quality?

It is pretty widely understood that NJS has very strict standards. Though it doesn't directly correlate to quality, most frames, parts, etc. stamped with NJS are of very high quality. If a part (such as my beloved Campagnolo sheriff star hubs) are found to have any flaws they loose their certification, most recently Vivalo.

njs means safe for racing and within race spec.

njs certification doesn't just 'happen.' campy didn't 'lose' its stamp it stopped drinking the kool aid. the MAJORITY of high quality components are not njs certified because njs certification only matters in a very small portion of races. most world class racing goes under uci standards which change and allow for newer technologies. doesn't have **** to do with quality.

nitto bars are high quality but the ones that are njs stamped are also stupidly expensive.

I think the price has more to do with demand. Personally I use Nitto parts because the are simple, elegant, & strong as hell. They are certainly not as robust as other manufactures, as yes, a lot of their parts are meant to be very light for racing. I have never had any of their parts break on me.

As far as NJS goes, companies loose certification simply because their products do not meet the strict standards. The arguement of quality can be made when discussing handle bars.

njs means the part has been transported in a time machine from the late 60s to current day. Some people like paying lots of money to know their outdated parts with a nice finish survived the trip though time.

nitto makes a bar with a nice finish, if you're into knowing you have a sexy finish under that bar tape.

half the parts on my bike are njs, but i got great deals on most of my stuff used. Though i'm glad there are people out there that pay retail on these things, i don't understand why

cinelli, I guess is preference, but also puts nitto to shame.

for the price I pay for some nitto bars, FSA makes a better product.
I still use nitto bars, but that's because they're the only ones that offer a deep classical bend with 25.4mm clamp.

I'm curious how they put Nitto to shame? I'm not saying they don't, but how does one come up with such an opinion? You seem to have a thing for Italian over Japanese steel / aluminum.

Its kinda funny watching this thread rip into Nitto when not 6 months ago, everyone and there sister wanted Nitto bars and stems. I own some Nitto bars and stems, some Cinelli bars and stems, and some Deda bars and stems. They all seem equally quality components. Of all of them I do have to say my Cinelli quill stem is the most flexy of the bunch though but the quality of craftsmanship is no less than Nitto.

To defend the Cinelli stem a little though, it is about 25 years old as opposed to the 1 year old Nitto I compare it to. Not that that would make a huge difference but years of use will stress components.

OP: Go with Nitto if you like it. You will not be disappointed.

I know they are like a "cheap" product, but do they last, work well, etc? I have ridden a bike with them before and they seem comfortable at least...

I mean I was thinking of the nitto bullhorn, but the tec9 I have used like I said and would want a diferent bar to swap things up on occasion. Just asking Tec9 products. and For cheap bullhorns, so I guess both questions apply....
