Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - C & O Canal Towpath?

Anyone ridden much of this on a fg/ss? It seems like it would be a good ride since it's pretty flat. I believe 28mm tires are the biggest thing I can fit on the rear of my motobecane messenger though and I'm not sure they are big enough to offer a comfortable and flat-free ride.

I was using Continental 4-seasons in 28mm and I don’t think I would try anything narrower. Yes the trail is virtually flat. I rode approx 50 miles in the Fort Frederick State Park area of the trail. The surface was very fine gravel to packed dirt for the most part. I am unsure as to the surface in the more eastern parts of the path. Your Mountain bike or Commuter may be more appropriate due to tire widths.

I've been bike-lazy for the last 2 months with lots of stuff going on at work (just changed jobs) and now I'm moving at the end of the month so I've got to pack.

If you want to go ride a section together sometime I'm game. I live in Laurel but my office is in Rockville/Shady Grove only about 4 miles from Swains Lock in Potomac. I believe this is about mile 15-ish on the trail. I certainly have non-fg bikes that are more than capable of riding the trail I just thought it might be fun to do it fixed since it's pretty flat.
