Classic & Vintage - Help me win. Need Bike art recommendations...

So at the new apartment, there is a lovely fireplace and the wife and I decided it needs a painting/print above it.

At first she immediately shot down anything bicycle related, but after I gave her a better idea of what I was thinking, she seemed to be more ok with the idea. But after oodles of searching, I can't seem to nail down anything I really like.

What I'm looking for is basically a landscape type painting, but with a little bicycle action tucked away into a corner or something. I'm thinking fall, but it could be winter or a nice mountain view maybe.

So any recommendations? I feel like I may be missing something in my google searches.

Did a google Search for Dali Bike which shows a lot of stomped bike wheels. Someone else's artwork, not mine.

BUt in all seriousness, good luck with this one. I have a strong deign background including some furniture design and interior layout design and yet my interior design opnions are worthless against my wife's ideas.

You are missing a golden opportunity here. Think big, think outside the box.

You need to get one of those fancy oak bike wall hangers that Nashbar sells, and hang a beautiful vintage bike up on the wall as art. Performance art, because you will take it down and ride it once in a while.

A vintage Merckx, or perhaps something Italian.

CA Hwy 120 eastbound, southeast of Mono Lake and about 20 miles northwest from Benton Hot Springs. Taken during the Sierra Fall Century last fall. Look carefully - there are two cyclists in the photo:

BBM's pictures seem to fit the bill the best of what's been posted so far because they're not about the bike so much as they are about the ride and the location, if that makes any sense. There just happens to be a bike or two included, but it's not the focal point of the picture. You could also check out the "Where'd you ride today" thread for ideas, there are lots of good pictures in there.

Hey, BBM, what does this one look like in color? I'm digging the black and white, but am curious.

Thanks for all the recommendations so far. I did search art.com and then allposters.com from the link posted above. Some good stuff there, but nothing that quite does it for me.

And BBM, if I could afford a vintage merckx, you better believe I'd petition for an oak wall hanger and put it up there.

I'm still trying to sell/trade the carbon bike to make that happen, but have been pretty busy with the move.

I tried to get my wife to let me hang my 1988 red (which chrome fork and stays) Pinarello frame... at least until I decide to build it up again. She vetoed that and instead hung up one of her grandmother's paintings ;-)

So now the Pinarello hangs in the basement. Seriously though... there is a lot of good bicycle related art out there. I actually have a drawing of a bicycle that my wife made while she was in high school hanging in my office. I'm also planning to photograph the intricately carved lugs on my wife's Rivendell mixte to hang somewhere. I've photographed several times over the years, but never quite got a detail shot of the lugs that I was happy enough with to print post sized. I'm thinking black & white and kind of abstract. When I get around to it maybe I'll sell copies on Etsy ;-)
