looks pretty clean from the pic. nice grab.
I have a miyata 210 which is basically a gas pipe beater but i love it because its got braze-on's 'a plenty, great tire clearance which allows me to run 700's with big tires and fenders, and i really like the geometry. I've actually used it to commute, lent it out to friends to get into riding, and I even did a cross race on it last year. I have lots of "nicer" bicycles but I cant bring myself to get rid of this one because it's so versatile.
Hopefully you have the same experience with your 110.

This is a really nice find for 10 bucks! Miyatas were always great but they changed around the quality of the models alot. By 1986 even the lower end models were pretty top notch bikes.
From the top tube font, it looks like it's a 1986, the same year as my 210. Based on the specs from miyata catalogs, it looks like this is probably the non-touring equivalent of the 210 for this year. They should both have triple butted frame tubes and serviceable shimano light-action components.
Like ColonelJLloyd mentioned, a new chain is worth the investment (<10 for a nice KMC) and maybe a new freewheel (moot point if you're getting new wheels). It will probably ride like or better than a brand new bike with a new 700c wheelset!

My first real score was a Miyata 110 for $20 ... Knowing nothing about Miyata at the time I bought it for the Brooks B66 that was attached.
at 10 bux I'd say the OP did twice as well as I did
That would appear to be a late 80's model.

I bought almost the same bike in red last summer for $100 and it needed tires, tubes, chain, bar tape, and new axle... but the frame and components were in great shape. I now ride it everyday as my commuter... nice score... enjoy
I really love hearing about scores like this. Jealous, of course, but it's terrific to hear that the bike is going to a good home instead of moldering in some garage or basement or attic. Cool, and good for you!

Miyata's were great bikes, I have two of them a 87 Team purchased new, and a 88 712 purchased used, granted these are a bit higher level then yours, but their entire line was made better then others price for price. And a 110 for $20 is a great score for a bike that will last forever and appears to be in very good condition.

My oldest son has a 110 he uses for his 10 mile daily commute. Brand loyality set in after just the first few days, he loves the bike. Hope you have the same experience. Very nice grab by the way

thanks guys !
Nice grab! I probably wouldn't have bothered with upgrading the wheels, but at that price I suppose you can afford some upgrades. Don't throw away those 27's though; they appear to be a decent set.

CrMo is better than plain steel and butted tubes are lighter than non-butted. It is a nice bike even thought it's lower-mid end of Miyata's range. It probably has non-CrMo chain stays and seat stays and possibly a non-CrMo fork so it might be a tad heavier than the more expensive Miyata bikes from that year. The original components were also lower end than the top bikes of the time. Think of it as most of the performance at a fraction of the cost. Not top of the line but very respectable and it should serve you well. Enjoy it!

i finally got the 700 wheelset put on my Miyata and took it for a ride and the rear derailler was all over the place and very noisy . so i took it back to my workshop (living room ) and tuned up the rear derailler and then took it out for one of the best rides i have ever had on a Vinatage bike !!Iam hooked on my MIYATA!!!!LOL

They are sweet, that's why have two of them. They weren't the lightest framesets in their day, even their top end like my Team bike was a tad heavier then a few others, but the ride is great and the frame is stiff with the splined technology.
