I'll be going to school at MBI in Spokane WA!

I can't wait! I'll be getting the education i want and shreddin the Gnar part time! If you live up that way and have a dh bike for sale please let me know! I dont know much about DH at all, but i do know that i will really enjoy it! Im not looking for the top of the line 2011 WhateverMaRig, im just looking for a pretty good used bombproof bike that will get me by for a while and one that isnt going to completely bust my bank.

Also, i will be going to school up there the first of the year so i cant really do anything untill then. But i think it would be good to know what im looking at getting a bit prior to buying it so i can do some research and what not.

Thanks so much!

John

Congrats Mr. J. Law, have a great time up there. Great place in the world to be. Some great trails and trout fishing north of Spokane up into Canada.

Remember, Grades FIRST, trails second............the better your education now, the nicer your bikes in the future.

ill hang with you guys and it could be a Green Tea-and-downhill-bikes ministy for me! lol

also, D what kind of bikes do you have for sale?

dminor

I don't have a whole bike for sale right now. I have an '08 Transition Blindside frame (medium) with a Gravity crankset and a dual-crown RST R-One fork. It is essentially this bike minus a lot of important pieces:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t162/dminorwa/Blindside_09/Reincarnated2.jpg

Not prepped for sale yet but I will probably soon sell my '03 Diamondback XTS Moto (large). It's my 7"/ 6½" trailbike; has a 7" single-crown RST Storm Super and Hayes Mag HD brakes but is otherwise close to stock. It looked like this when new:

http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2003&Brand=Diamondback&Model=XTS+Moto&Type=bike

And was rebuilt into this:

That Blindside looks wicked, but i would definatly need one with all its "important pieces" haha. And the DB may be a bit to big for me. Im only 5'8" on a good day.
Also, what are the advantages to double crown forks?

but how much are you asking for the Transition?

Johnny Law
11-16-10, 04:49 PM
also this may seem like a stupid question, but on the DB the rear shock, is it upside down? The stock photo is facing the other way.

or does it make no difference at all?

Also, what are the advantages to double crown forks?More torsional rigidity and usually more plush than a similar-length single-crown, because there is more internal volume for oil, damping circuits and a looser-wound spring.

Oh, and I'm asking $800 for frame/fork/crank.

or does it make no difference at all?It doesn't. Most or all Fox remote-reservoir shocks can be flipped any which-way. I chose to flip it so that there would be no chance a slammed seatpost could foul with the reservoir.

Sailboat fuel . . .

Ok so.. If I went with the blindside, how much more would you estimate I would have to put in it(price wise)? Not top of the line but not junk.

Johnny Law
11-16-10, 05:37 PM
And how much would you take for the DB? Cause I deffinatly will at leaste check it out and se how it feels with my short body.

You've chosen an admirable future dude. I wish I could bring myself to do but its hard to let go of my role as provider. Got so many friends doing missions...makes me feel like a lazy man.

D! Wassup with he DB? I thought you loved that thang.I love what it does and how it does it for sure. I realized, though, that if I sold it I could buy the Yeti DJ frame. It would just have to double as my burly trailbike for a while. Ultimate goal is to also own either a 575 or an AS-R 7.

John, let me think this through some more and do a bit of inventorying. Maybe between cannibalizing the DB and pulling out some other parts, I could flesh out the Blindside into a nearly-complete bike. Not to discourage you, but the large is most definitely large. My son bought it when he was a teen working at an LBS and was 6'-3" and nearly 190 lbs. - - big kid.

sounds like a plan with the Blindside! just let me know what you want to do, and before you do it come up with a price of corse lol. And yeah that DB definatly wont fit. Im a lil 'un at 5-8 150 lbs

Most of that is from Sidewinder. Looks like he used most of the beginner ride-arounds. Which is cool - - that's what they are there for. Another perspective on the same trail:

That's one of the beauties of Beacon: many alternate lines depending on your skill/confidence level.

That would excite me more if he didn't miss out on everything that trail had to offer. It's cool though, I remember my first mountain bike ride..

I have seen some videos on youtube that are totaly sick and they are all right there in Spokane. I hope im not more excited about the biking then the education!
