Does the Regal saddle with these rails (photo courtesy of Velobase) require a particular seatpost, or will it fit most clamps?

Dunno...I'll find out when my red one arrives from the UK sometime this week (hopefully). Supposedly you just (may) need to use a longer clamp bolt. Worst case scenario I will machine a new top bracket piece for the seatpost (hope not).

worked alright with my standard seatpost bolt, but to be fair, i used a modern seatpost too

If you are using a Campagnolo SR seatpost, you will need a longer bolt. The saddles actually came with them when new. As far as other seatposts go, YMMV.

Been interested in those "Girardi" regal saddles with the unusual rails but they just don't come up too often and are usually kinda beat up by their owners.
I've been wondering though if there is actually a weight reduction achieved (compared to the regular steel railed versions) with the thick section alloy rails though. I guess at least these rails might not bust as easy as other non-steel rails on older saddles. of that era.

I bought one last week...not because it was "vintage" but because it was red! I assumed the rails were a non-issue, thanx for confirming that.

Did you actually find a red saddle with the magnesium rails? Most Regal saddles have 'normal' rails, either steel or titanium.
