Introductions - Greetings,

Name here is Kevin,
I live in Southern Cal and am back on a bicycle. Been riding daily about 3 months now, and am starting to commute a short distance to work. Looking at upgrading and getting a comfort/cross road bike.

Do you plan to do any sanctioned racing or competition? If not then look into a recumbent. They make excellent commuting bikes.

No racing for me, just recreational riding. My goal is to be able to do a century by next summer. Recumbants don't appeal to me for some reason.

Well each to his own. Some like MTB, some like road bikes. I know that switching to a 'bent made all the difference for me. Comfort, smooth ride, excellent visibility, reasonably quick. Got me doing some commuting again.

Welcome from down the road in Riverside. I've been upin your area a couple of times. Been up Euclid and Central avenues to mission Blvd and back to Riverside. I was thinking about taking a long ride from Riverside to Yorba Linda to Chino Hills, but I'm not sure how the 142 is. I'm going to have to check it out in my care to see what it's like.

Carbon Canyon (142) is narrow and hilly. One lane each way and fairly busy. FYI

Do you see bikes on the road?

Once in a while I will see a sole brave soul, never have seen a group. I don't go through often but I have seen the occasional serious cyclist during the week and on weekends.
