I know Huffys are not the greatest, but would it be a good beater? Does anybody know anything about this bike?
The seller said it was a Huffy 10 speed relay.

Looks like an Omni, it's probably worth the $15.00 and it should be easy enough to tune up.

Nothing special and it'll be a tank.

I would not touch it even at $15. Every time you ride that 35lb Huffy you will regret it. And when you go to sell it resale will be zero.

Increase your budget to $50 and you should be able to do much better. Look for Schwinn World Sports or Raleigh Gran Prix's or Ace's.

It would probably just be for winter and bad conditions if I got it.

The saddle is skewed, some of the clips which hold the cable housings are gone, etc. I doubt that the owner knows that this bike will rot before it is sold, but I could be wrong.

For $15, I'd buy it. Just don't put any additional money into it. Buy it, ride it (make sure the brakes work). Do all the repair work on it yourself. Next spring, sell it and buy a better bike. You'll have a great repair learning platform for cheap and when you do upgrade to a better bike, you'll appreciate it that much more.

I have an old schwinn that I am working on right now that I am working on. I think instead of this bike I will just keep moving forward with that and hopefully finish it within the next couple weeks. Thanks for your thoughts.

Probably a good idea, almost any Schwinn road bike is going to be better than that Huffy.

In this case, you will learn to work on a poorly equipped bike, not a good thing. Most likely the brake pads are worn down unevenly, the derailleurs are most likely a cheap brand and will not calibrate well, cables may be sticky, yada, yada. If you learn to work on a Huffy, you will be able to repair a Huffy. Schwinn is a whole different matter. Everything usually fits, stays tight and will not be likely to fail at an inopportune time down the road, and you will have a broader scope of repair for other similar, better built bikes. I learned on Schwinns.
