I've been looking around for a new leather saddle, and the Cardiff Cambria caught my eye. Just wondering if anyone has ridden one, or any Cardiff, and what their thoughts are.

I bought the VO-8 from Velo Orange. I believe that and Cardiff come from the same Taiwan leather saddle maker. The pricing is competitive with Brooks.

i read that vo and cardiff are both made by a furniture company called Gyes whose owner is an enthusiast. these two models particularly caught my eye the other day:

I had a Gyes saddle for a short while. It literally made me feel like my penis was turning inside out. I hated it.

it may vary person to person, but for the price, i'd be safe with the known and proven b17 for not much more.

I had a model very similar to the one in the first link for awhile, it was pretty comfortable but the leather started stretch away from the rivets after about 6 months of riding, I may have been pushing its weight limits a bit at around 190 pounds though.

That said, I think the saddle in the second link is dead sexy.

I might try it. Just because I think it's sexy.

i agree with you. the only reason i would buy that blonde Gyes is because i don't think i could ever bring myself to pay full retail for a Swallow...and i don't wanna butcher a 17 either

I have a new Cardiff Cornwall that I haven't put on a bike, yet.

It looks well made and compares favorably to the Brooks B-17 for half the money.

I guess I need to ride it.
