I've changed my mind on the Kona...I'm pretty sure I'm headed toward the Telonix. All of the reviews I've read, combined with the tread design...I think it will be just perfect for what I'm trying to accomplish.

Scrub-looks like a heckuVa rock crawler...you may wanna consider em too, eh?

From what I've gleaned from non-MTBR reviews...they're not so hot for rolling resistance (as expected) but have an indecent amount of traction.

Now I just need to decided whether I want to go wire / folding / dtc / sticky

I'm thinking that a 2.4/2.4 setup would be great, but with the wire sticky's...we're talking about 1.5-2lbs additional weight. I'm not a wanting to be a weenie on this build, but I'm thinking that's a bit excessive. DTC rear / Sticky front may be the ticket...but I'll lose that ability to run lower pressures in the rear tire for a more "cush" ride and more bite over the rocks.

Hmmm...

I know you and I have talked Telonix rolling resistance before, so am surprised you're going that route. I thought you'd convinced me they are boat anchors. I'm curious why those over, say, a 2.35 Excavator?

Thy are boat anchors...and I'd never run hem on the Komodo. The Kona will spend more time jackin around on rocks and hopping off stuff. Trials'y type stuff...thus the extra grip.

Fair enough. Too bad you can't get the single ply Iron Cap version in Stick-e, Seems like that would alleviate some of the 'wimpy casing' woes w/o going full-on DH casing.

Yeah...I'm pretty much set on wire...I'm just trying to decide on 2.4 vs 2.6 for the front. I won't be spending too much time doing gravity runs with it...though I may try to take it to CO next year. I think 2.4 may be plenty.
