Hello, this is my first post.Iīm from Asturias, the North of Spain.Probably you know Asturias because is famous for our mountains. The names of "Angliru","Lagos de Covadonga","San Lorenzo","La cobertoria","Subida al Naranco","Fuentes de invierno".All were finals in the Tour of Spain.
I have some road bikes. My daily bike is a Wilier Cento 1 with Campagnolo Record but my favourite bike is a Macario handmade C Record from the Team Seur. This bike is in mint condition, near new(I have used it but only a few days) because I found it new some months ago.It was a bike from this team and never used (I think wheels came from other team bikes, and are little used).I changed the tubulars because they were new,but this bike is about 1986......It has only minimal marks of storage.
This bike was handmade with Cinelli parts and Columbus SLX.The paint is a rare pearl colour that changes with the light.I rode it this summer and this is a racing and incredible bike. This frame is incredible, strong and fit perfect for me.
Itīs very difficult to find a bike like this because is a part of Vuelta Espaņa (Tour of Spain) history. This bike was in the team cars and finally was forgotten in a garage. The boy who sold this bike to me didnīt know what he was selling.you can see the original bar tape and Rolls saddle. That black saddle is new and has the original decals.I prefer change for a white option for riding it.Original bar tape-frame colour-red decals is the same of the SEUR logo company.
Alvaro Pino was a rider of this Team Seur and a winner of the tour of Spain.
I like you enjoy it!

Welcome to the C&V forum!

That is one of the nicer bikes I've seen lately.

Frame color with the red decals grabs my eyes.

I love it.

What a beauty!

What do you know about Macario?

I have frames for my wife and myself that some day I'll get back on the road. I've had a hard time fining out anything about Macario. I emailed Macario to get some decals but never heard back.

Macario on Ebay right now.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270665255797&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Oh my goodness. Congratulations on your find. I much prefer your color choice for saddle and bar tape to the original. Red bar tape would also look smashing, I think. Of course, it would have to be the right shade. Maybe fizik.

Beautiful bike. A Spanish friend of mine here in Miami rides a Macario that he's owned for many years. It's a great frame built with Reynolds 531 tubing and beautifully detailed. Yours is stunning, one of the lovelier bikes I've seen here in some time.

+1, the bicycle is gegoreous.

I'm interested in how you established the provenance when the seller was ignorant to what he had. My understanding is that Seur did not come into existence until 1988 and they competed on Otero frames until their demise in 1992. However, previous to that, the team had operated under the sponsorship of Dormilon and did compete on Macario.

The sole picture I have found (so far) of the 1986 Dormilon team shows red frames with chrome stays, forks and head lugs. The seat tube has world championship stripes above and below the Macario logo and the headtube does not have an emblem but Macario spelled out vertically.

A couple things about the frame are curious. Most, though not all, pro bicycles of this period sported dual bottle bosses. Even stranger is the apparent absence of a number peg. In some pics it looks like there may be one, but it could also be background items.

The picture with the old bar tape sure makes it look like the no. peg is there.

Agreed, and in a few other too but it doesn't stand out for certain in any of them. I'm hoping it's there.

yes,it has number peg and its a little rare because it has only one bottle mount.Team SEUR has ridden Otero during pro year, but they used some other bike frames from proffesional craftsmem. This is probably the first bike they rode.

The frame quality of Macario is very high and SLX tubes and frame parts (Cinelli vs Columbus) is from Columbus.Macario made one of the best steel bike frames in Europe in Capitan Argibay street.Other spanish brands like Otero,Razesa,BH and Orbea(Orbea now is a very good brand) had a normal quality, probably Razesa was the best, but not as good as Macario.Macario Capitan Argibay bikes were very expensive frames and I think Macario father closed this little workshop because money is money, and the new times were going very quickly. He decided to distribute Shimano and other bike brands. He sold more steel frames, but not made in the original work shop. Now is only a wholesaler and Macario frames are taiwan - china made.

The man that sold me the bike didnīt enjoy this "old" bikes and I think this bike came from a relative old friend in the team that saved the bike with more things. This bike is 53,5cm top tube and you know C Record seatpost is very short. The family that owned the bike are about 1,80cm tall so you and me can understand why itīs unused. This bike is for a 1,70/1,73cm cyclist.

this is a Jose Manuel Fuente video. It was from my region. He was an atypical cyclist.he was smoking some times and after day training he drank a "culin" of cider. One KAS Team member said me that he was the best but he was a little crazy and he rode free.KAS team was in anarchy. He was a terrible climber:
