So I believe I tracked down a Corsa Extra. It's red/white green with chrome forks chrome ends and a cable routing on the top tube. The condition is in pretty decent. Some nicks here and there, no dents or anything, some slight rusting on the forks. Has the 7-11 logo on the down tube. Looks to be legit. Price someone is asking for the frame/fork is around $140ish. Is this around the right price, or would this be a good find?
Problem is the dude measured it...and it's a frigging about 50cm size frame. I'd need around a 56. Sooooo my serious inquiry is, would this be a good frame to buy and try use it to trade for another vintage frame more my size?
In before the "nah it's junk send it to me and I'll cover shipping and handling fees" :innocent:

I'll email the guy and ask for measurements. I could be lucky and maybe he's not sure how to ready vintage sizing?
Flip it, hard? Is this frame really that coveted? Thanks guys!

You can trade up on that frame nicely, keep us updated and I am sure someone will offer you something that you like.
Flip it, hard.
True, but at 50cm, it may prove a hard one to flip.

I would believe that at 60cm, but not 50cm. Much, much, easier flip.
50 cm will be easy. Nymphs like me find it hard to get good bikes in that size.

Seems to me it is below the sweet spot. Yes, much easier than 60cm. YRMHV

Yep, the Corsa Extra frames are the ones to get, and the 7-11 team models are especially sought after.
There was a moderately used Corsa Extra frameset with headset on Ebay a couple of weeks back with a BIN of $999. Not sure if it sold.

If you are flipping, a few bucks spent can help bolster the overall appeal if those DO set screws can't be straightened (they tend to weaken): http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/dropout-adjustment-screw.html

And the right shifter is really a left?
C'mon quit nitpicking, even if it was sans fork and headset I bet we'd all say go for it...
I may be wrong here, but I don't think that is a Corsa Extra. CE would be made with SLX and would be marked Corsa Extra on the top tube. The logo on the top tube says it is is a Team model. Would be made with TSX. Even better.

Just picked it up! It was a little shop, they even cleaned and polished it! He's also holding a bag of "parts" for me if I want to buy them that came with the bike. Its a "campy" crankset, campy front and rear brakes, and a campy derailer. He said hed clean them up real good too. He wanted 50 for the parts. They loooked to be in good condition

Why did you leave without them? While he is cleaning them someone will come in to the shop, see them and offer $200...

Get the parts too. You will make your money back on the rear derailluer.
And stop and buy a lottery ticket on your way back...before it wears off.

The derailer was missing a spring bolt or bolt? Some small part, and one nut was missing from one of the brakes. Regardless I should still pick them up right?:thumb:

I'd be very nice to the seller.
Seriously.
If he wants $50, pay the man the money. Pronto.
....and don't forget, he may find more goodies down the road.
You may be the guy he'll call first.

Snag it! I wouldn't have let those parts outta my sight.
I agree with Gomango....bring him a six-pack of his favorite brew.

one side of the seat tube has this scuffing which is about the only major hiccup I could see! Looks the previous owner applied some white paint, either to block the scuffing, or to prevent rust, or for both. No biggie though imo. If this was my size I'd rock the scar. Gives it character :D

bottom of the frame. Im assuming the "xs" is extra small? I'm curious who rode such a small frame!
Any more info? Good buy? Got ripped off? Thanks y'all for all your help so far!

Nice. That is a real score.
SLX Tubing, so I'm guessing it is an Extra? Do the Team 7-11 Decals replace the "Extra" decals on essentially the same frame?
The rusted spots should clean up nicely, and the chrome frame gurus here should be able to point you in the right direction.
All in all the frame's in great condition, and with a little work will be ready to turn around for a good profit.

The "X" is for Corsa Extra/SLX. That's not an "S", it's an 8 = 48 cm frame. You did very good for $140. You should have no trouble selling that for much more on ebay. The smaller sizes bring a lot of bids from Asia and you have one of the most desirable paint jobs. Good work. Make sure you post pics of the parts haul.

The "B" would indicate 88/89 model year.

Once I buy the cleaned up bag o' parts I'm going to decide what to do. I'm thinking flipping, but I might try to trade for another vintage roadie...I'm hankering for some vintage roadie cycling :thumb:

Sooo the campy parts are in! They didn't have time to clean them so I will have to try to myself. Good ol' elbow grease! I got a plastic baggy with some parts, mainly screws ect. They shop said like 1 or 2 small nut or spring here or there might be missing.

Also I've been trying to google, but I can't quite seem to find what group this particular Campy stuff is in, and what parts am I missing to complete it? Any knowledge/insight/links to info on these parts will be much obliged!
Looks like Chorus from around the same era as your frame (good score, btw). Here's a representative pic (http://campybike.com/pdf/1989CampagnoloChorus.pdf), you can look around on that site for more info.

You can get the Corsa Extra in SLX or TSX. My buddy has a 7-11 bike that is TSX. I have a Corsa Extra that is TSX, I have also owned one in SLX. Looks like this one is a SLX.
