Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - 2011 Kilo TT Pro comes out the day after my WT arrives

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My 08 Madison was stolen a month ago and I've been searching for replacements on BD. I settled on a Kilo WT, Emerald Green 62 cm, only because the 63cm Kilo TT Pro in Slate was sold out. I emailed BD asking about the 63cm Kilo's that were all gone, wish they could have given me a heads up! I love my WT so far, it's spec'd nearly the same.

i'd rather have tire clearance than chromed tips, but that's just me.
make sure the seatpost fits (nyuknyuknyuk) and then enjoy the hell out of it!

somehow it looks like they just changed the frame to the chrome ended ones and didnt think about the overall apperance of the bike
yeah i'm not a fan of the new pro. make it 500 and full chrome with black formationface and then we'll talk:D
actually no, for 500 it's going to have to be nicer tubing, undrilled for brakes, no eyelets or brazeons, and basically a different bike. if i needed a new bike tomorrow it wouldn't be a kilo.

i still really hope/wish to see the lugged kilo with chrome lugs. although im sure that would be expensive.

i hear ya
i wouldn't spend money on a bike unless i sold my current bikes or otherwise lost them.
unless i had the money for this

plus new saddle and post and cockpit. but that's seriously all you need to do to make this the most awesome mass production bike around imo.
seriously has to be absolute pavement bliss. i'd probably punch a kitten in the face for the chance to ride it for a week.
dees thrad, ees BD love thread, no?
seriously, this gran premio... the super strada apex... ****ing hitting the nails on the head man.

^ i saw that on the email as well. steerer tube could be cut a bit, but cockpit looks fine to me besides the saddle.
the stem and post look heavy and noodly. some nicer components would really help let the frame shine. and those bars don't look comfy to my hands. and yes, saddle looks awful.

some silver would set it off right. and i dunno, i think shallow road drops are alright.

Those would be my choice of components for the Motobecane.
wicked: so do i. i was responding to someone who was considering buying a second kilo.
vix: dude, you're killing me. that would be so hot. i would trade all my bikes and all of my clothes and one of my computers and my box spring to make that happen. instead i'm trying to get a job, like a sucker. i especially love how the zero100 component set matches the 6700 group nicely.

Seriously, why is this under the BD commuter bike section? It took me awhile to find it
And who would honestly commute with a $1500 bike daily?
Not hating; if I had the money/ someone gave me this, I would seriously use it to commute.

I really like this frame's color scheme. Would be nice if they offered something similar in the lugged Kilo.

I do and wouldn't have it any other way. Most of my riding is commuting. Why commute on an "inferior" $400 bike when you can enjoy yourself more riding what you really want?

Well I commute on a $800 base price ride...
Do you have to bring it through a subway system?
I once commuted with my orbea orca because my chain snapped on my commuter and it was the closest bike to the door (I was running late obviously). I was so anal on the subway and the traffic in the city.

The bike would probably look better if the letterings were chrome and the parts were high polished.

My seatpost tube came with a compression slot already cut, bonus!

Well, I'd rather have my cake and eat it too; tire clearance, stainless steel cast dropouts with separate eyelets for a rack and fender. Wait, I got all that on my Salsa Casseroll.

TT, that's a great looking bike. How do you like the chain guard on the FG? Do you still have to roll up/clip your pants?

I don't quite understand how the "tensioners" on the casserole work with regards to SSFG.
Are they only there to support the use of a derailleur?

Actually, it's a SS, not a FG. But no, I don't have to roll up / clip my pants, which is really nice. Also, I think the chainguard will still work if I put gears in the back and leave the single chainring in the front.

They are not tensioners, just axle stops that you adjust such that when the wheel is pulled back in the dropouts the chain tension is correct and the wheel is centered in the frame. When using a derailleur they can be adjusted any way you want, provided the wheel is centered.
