I really don't know if there is a big difference between pad compounds. I just have the original Tektro Oryx cantilever brakes.

I would love to upgrade the brakes aswell, but i dont know if i have money right now to do that.

If anyone has ideas for pads, or brakes?

We use the dual compound Salmon pads on our tandem. Great stopping power compared to other pads we have used.

Koolstop salmons for me, though the dual compounds are excellent as well.

I do think there is a difference in pads -definitely recommend Koolstops!

Everybody says Kool Stop salmon pads are great in the rain. In dry conditions, I really don't notice much difference from stock Shimano or Avid pads...

The Tektro's themselves are fine I think, try them with Kool-stops and then decide. I loved mine with the Kool-Stop dual compounds.

The Tektro pads appear to dissolve in water! The brakes are fine. I'd suggest trying the salmon Koolstops.


Everybody says Kool Stop salmon pads are great in the rain. In dry conditions, I really don't notice much difference from stock Shimano or Avid pads...
This really doesn't surprise me. If you can manage not ever riding in the rain, the pads might not matter too much!

Heh, I was meaning the brakes themselves, seemed like it made sense in my head when I posted, but yeah, not that clear now that I read it again.
The Canti's themselves are fine, the stock pads are worthless.
