Hey all, I am new to the forum. A few months ago I went on a 2-day trip up highway 1 (from San Francisco to Mendocino). I was disappointed that there was no great way to plot out the elevation along my planned route, so I was always dreading the next unexpected climb. So I made an iPhone app to help folks get directions that come with an full altitude profile of the planned route.

If anyone here wants to give it a shot, email floatopian at floatopia dot org and I'll try to set you up with a free promo code. I would love feedback on the app from experienced cyclists!

You can download the application in the app store here (itms://itunes.apple.com/us/app/route-planner-directions-altitude/id401790690?mt=8).

I'm not expecting to make much money off of this software so this isn't supposed to be a big ad. I hope some of you find it useful. Does anyone know of a web site that plots altitude? I also made a little mashup with Google Maps but it's pretty rough at this point.

Here's a screen shot:

Does anyone know of a web site that plots altitude?

There are dozens of hike- and ride-mapping sites that do this: MapMyRide, RideWithGPS, BikeRouteToaster... there are probably dozens.
