Hello..

I've pretty much converted into a full time roady.. I NEVER ride my mountain bike, and for the few times that i do see i will, i don't need the bike I have. I'd like to sell my barely used Cannondale Prophet 600. I probably went to the trails twice with this thing and the rest has been street rides.

I'd like to turn over the money into a new road bike and maybe get a decent hardtail.

EVERYTHING is mechanically 100% ok with the bike... NO scratches what so ever.. what do you guys think?

Probably not worth very much because the fork is screwed up.

a parts list would help as well as when you originally bought it and how much you paid

Where are you getting that the fork is screwed up?

I think his joke was that it was missing a fork leg but that's just a guess.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses.

This has a full Shimano Deore XT kit.

I paid $1600 for it originally.

I think bikes depreciate in the first year roughly 40-50% from what I have read from post here and other sites when people ask the same question you are. That being said it is really up to the market and what the bike is worth to the individual. You say it is in great condition from what I gather and hardly ridden off road. Appears well maintained from the pictures. How old is the bike again?????

If recently bought to one year old I would expect in the range of $800-$1000 for it.

I am not too keen on the Canondale fork setup. Oh, it may be bomb proof but it just looks weird! Not trying to diss your bike for I see alot of these setups. Just not my cup of tea. I am sure the bike performs well.

Someone else here I am sure with alot more experience will chime in on what to expect. That is my guess of the range I gave you. Good luck selling it. I am a roadie converted to mtn. bike, so I know where your coming from.

I just sold a low end, Ironhorse dual suspension bike for about $0.68 on the dollar and I thought that was outstanding. It's the same year as your bike, 2005. Higher end bikes depreciate more because the technology advancements have a greater impact on them. I would estimate that if you were offered $1000 for that bike you should grab it. You should be able to get around $800. I'm assuming you live in a metropolitan area and you are selling on CL.
You did not say where you live or how you plan to sell it and those are important factors.
EDIT: Also, you didn't say what size it is. (Inches please, not S or L or M.) 13-18" = good. 19 not so good. 21 or higher bad.

Around here (atlanta area) you would sell that for $1200 on Craigslist in a day.

If you find a buyer who is looking for what you have, you MIGHT get $1200. Chances are that you will be doing good if you can get $750-$800. You will need to find a buyer who knows what they are looking at. FULL XT, that is a great group! But there are a lot of buyers who will think, but HEYYYYYYY, this SLX equipped bike is $300. less.

Good luck on the road, stay out of traffic.

Around here (atlanta area) you would list that for $1200 on Craigslist & sell it after $200-300 of getting haggled down in a day.

Fixed.

I don't get it... Are you calling people from Atlanta stupid?

If you get more than $750, good deal.

No, this is called "economics".

Atlanta isn't exactly a hot spot for mountain biking. So high end mountain bikes are few & far between compared to, say, Spokane. When you have very few mountain bikes to choose from, the prices go up.

People from the Spokane area just pretend to ride.

Really?? I'm curious what you are basing this on. While I wasn't a mountain biker when I lived there, I'm curious why you would think Atlanta is not a good mountain bike area.

I guess I'm basing it on living here my entire life...

I never said Atlanta wasn't good for mountain biking. I enjoy it thoroughly. But it's pretty clear when I tell people I'm going mountain biking, & they have no idea you can even mountain bike south of Canton.

Mountain biking in Atlanta, GA is riding across the greens in Piedmont Park ? Then again that was the early 90's, things might've changed since then ?

Canton, Cumming, Kennesaw, Woodstock, Roswell. Google it.
