I'm being lazy here and not doing an extensive Google search before I ask this, so forgive me.

I'm going to take the plunge next year and buy a tadpole.
I have a Rohloff hub in my parts bin and wish to use it on the build.
Do any makers provide framesets as apposed to complete bikes?

Many thanks for the help,

--Allen

i'm still dopey from Thanksgiving dinner, so I haven't searched either. My impression is that unless you already have a supply of tadpole trike parts sitting around, buying just the frameset is going to cost you more to put together than buying a complete trike and retrofitting your Rohloff to it.

I would talk to Utah Trikes about the customized trikes they put together. They do a lot of internal hub setups- maybe you could ship them your hub and they'd send back a trike built around it.

+1. Just because you have a Rohloff doesn't mean you have everything else, right?

AFAIK, ICE will sell framesets. I also beleive and ICE rear, left dropout is all set up to receive a Rohloff too.

However, I wouldn't base my decision on which trike to get on who will and won't sell me a bare frameset. IMO, that is 180 deg. backwards.

I'm lazy too but, without taking the time to look, I'll say "Yes".

FWIW, I bought my Rans Enduro Sport as a frameset. I ordered it through Hostel Shoppe and it was drop shipped to me directly from Rans in Hays, Ks. The frameset contained essentially everything except wheels, brakes and drivetrain. In other words, it contained all of the specialty stuff. I'd definitely do it that way again.

Catrike will sell you a "rolling chassis," which I believe is the frame and all the other non-standard parts that go along with it. It does include wheels, so you'd have some reduplication.

Thanks all for the replies.
Currently the CatTrike is the one I'm considering.
