I am trying to sell these locally, in the Toronto area. Primarily because shipping anything to the US is prohibitively expensive. so that precludes an ebay sale.
But that means I can't rely on the Invisible Hand of ebay to give me a sense of the fair market value.
I have to sell them (long story) but I don't want to give them away cheap either.
So, if anyone can advise me as to the approximate fair sell price for any of these, I would be grateful

Peter

nah, soaked them and I wrapped them in tape and pulled for a bit but when it didn't budge I said "to heck with it. I"ll let the buyer decide what they want to do with them."

I would not assume shipping a frame from Canada is going to be prohibitive. Maybe you are right, I have not done it. But I would send a PM to Randy Jawa. Randy is able to send bikes all over the world from Canada.

Nice framesets like these are best suited for ebay. Toronto is a good market for sure. My experience with selling higher end frames locally is a bust. Local buyers tend to want something to ride right now, or something cheap. A high end frame just doesn't draw much interest.

Given you are in a really good market, I would track recent ebay auctions for a while (ebay only keeps two weeks of history, it really stinks for research), and then post one locally for around 75% of the ebay price.

And with 20 frames to sell, you really need a bigger market, even one bigger than Toronto. Ebay provides that market.

I am relatively inexperienced with selling bikes on ebay, but you think the prices would be better than selling locally?
Yes, I guess there are more eyeballs watching but frame prices seem depressed on ebay (which I should probably take as a warning sign.)

All I know is that I would not have a prayer of selling 20 higher end frames locally, zero chance (unless I wanted to take two to three years to do it, or give them away). I would either have to list them here, or ebay, or both. And I cannot imagine trying to sell them in the winter locally.

I know Toronto is a pretty hot market, so give it a try.

Prices are depressed this year, ebay just reflects what I am seeing locally. Bikes I am selling are off about 20%, maybe more, this year (2010).

And to sell on ebay, you have to be willing to ship.

The only problem with ebay would be trying to obtain 20 bicycle boxes at this time of year and the time lost packing and taking them to the shipping office. TO's a pretty hot market, though it would have cooled off quite a bit recently. I'd try Craigslist or Kijiji first.
