Been thinking about getting in shape so I started biking with some friends.
Started out my friend writes software for medical equipment and had a pulse oximiter at his house (measures blood oxygen and heart rate) and my heart rate was over 100. He told me average should be around 70 and triathalon people get down in the 30's. So that freaked me out!
Right now Im riding a cheap bike with dual suspension which belonged to my sister. Think its a Mongoose... Works well for now. If I keep riding often Ill buy a new one once I find a job again.
Been on 2 rides in the past few days 10 miles each on a nice trail. Ive been lagging behind my friends real bad but I think part of it has to do with the bike needs readjusting. Noticed earlier today my rear brake was rubbing on the wheel and thus the rear brake didnt work as well. Wanted to ride again tonight but friend talked me into a movie...
I bought some padded shorts today cause the worst part of the rides is the pain in the butt! Litterally! :roflmao:
Also took my front wheel in to get readjusted. Long story short friends pointed out my spokes were loose. Asked how to fix it. They told me to take the tube out and crank the nipples with a screwdriver. They forgot to mention it would warp the wheel when not done properly... I had no clue! Had to borrow a friends old front wheel yesterday...
Since I have no place for a waterbottle on my bike I really came here to read up on what people had to say about hydration systems. Been feeling bad for draining my friends bottles on our 10mile rides. Think Im going to go with a Camelbak MULE since I hope to be doing day rides on trails and such and my pockets are usually full of various items.
Thanks for all the great infos.
