it was great fun, Michelin cycling classic in downtown greenville. I did the juniors 15-17. i later found out that almost all the rest are cat 3 and up racers as well, so i didn't stand much of a chance. There were 28 entries overall, and i finished in the low 20's. 20 k race, i had 22. something mph average. Not bad for only riding for four months. I was also lucky enough to live aobut a mile away, so not driving or any of that mess, i just warmed up around my house and headed out. By the way, Hincapie won the pro's race yesterday

Sounds like fun. Do you have the racing bug yet? That must be great to leave your back door and ride right up to the start line.

yeah it was nice, and yes i have the bug. can't wait till next spring!
I feel ya there. I raced two crits at the end of the season here, and caught the bug badly. Finished 9th out of 25 first time out, then 5th out of about 35 second time out in the citizens' category. I just finished my first session of Spinervals "Suffer-o-Rama", and I at least know that I will be one of the best prepared out there next spring.
Congrats on your first crit! Fun, isn't it?

wow those are both great finishes. When i asked the pack that made up the top 10-15 about their experience, they told me most of them raced the pro1/2 race the day before, but i did well enough to be noticed by a local team that wants me to come trian and ridde with them. The guy said from the way i was biking with my level of experience, and from the way i was built, i would make one hell of a sprinter if i was trained right. Thanks to everyone on the forums who helped giving me advice and info to get me started!
