General Cycling Discussion - Question about TREK bikes
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

New rider and need advice on a bike I am looking at. My wife and I are looking for bikes to ride for enjoyment and fitness. Looking at TREK Navigator 200. Test drove but seeking info about TREK bikes. If there is any info you could give it would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a TREK 4500, which while considerably different from the navigator, has served me well and is a comfortable bike to ride.
In general Trek is well thought of and I havn't heard many complaints.
I have a friend who has an 8500 and rides it hard competitively, broke the frame and had it replaced with no hassles, so it seems their customer service policy and warrantee works.
Hope this helps.

I can only say that our Treks have so far performed well, though they aren't Navigators. My brother in Texas recently purchased a Navigator 400 and has been quite pleased.
Trek in general has a very good rep here in Portland, or so I assume since nearly every bike I see on the road here is a Trek.
Perhaps more important than what brand you decide upon is where you purchase it. Our bike shop (www.bikegallery.com for those curious) took the time to explain relative merits of different styles and made sure the bikes fit us correctly. I suppose you'll get a great bike in any bike shop, but if that great machine is not your size you'll quickly feel uncomfortable riding it...and so won't. I wonder just how many people have been turned off of cycling specifically for that reason. :(
Although I do not happen to own a Trek, I would not hesitate to buy one, based on their reputation. (Some guy named Lance can't be too wrong!)
