im lookin for a light bike that i can use for both trails and street. im used to riding a 16 lb race bike and i know i cant find a trails bike that is that light but i want the lightest one possibly for a decent price.like under 400$?

The DK Dayton or The DK Four Pack look really nice. I wish I could get the Dayton. The frames are heat-treated 4130 with euro bb's and all the parts look pretty tuff. they aren't as light as racing bikes but are below average for such nice bikes. I am unsure about the quality of the cassette hubs though. They are 449.99 and 459.99.
The Haro backtrail X3's are nice but are kinda chunky and the parts aren't the greatest. The crankes aren't the strongest and the rims suck.
The Mosh Lux 4 star (top model in the Dirt/Park series) is a nice bike and is only 299.99 on sale from dans comp right now. I like Mosh myself but ask others about the quality of Mosh stuff. Comes with nice pegs too which seems to be rare with complete bikes. It weighs in at 32.5 pounds.
I don't know much about Stolen bikes but the Wrap doesn't look to bad. It is on the light side at 29.6 lbs. I have no idea if the bike sucks or not. It doesn't have as nice of frame as the others I listed as well as the fork lacks Chromoly arms, the rims are unknown and the cranks might be forged. It is light though.
The Fly Barcelona looks ok but the frame is not as nice as the DK's or the Mosh's the cranks are questionable as are the rims and tires.
I hope this info helps. I would get the Mosh if I were you but you will end up getting new parts for all of them eventually.

The WTP 4 seasons looks ok too.
the DK cassette hubs are pretty bad, I keep hearing about them blowing up, the Backtrail is too heavy, goes against exactly what she is looking for, I wouldnt buy a MOSH, I broke my friend's a long time ago, kind of turned me off to their bikes...Most of the parts on any of these bikes will need to be replaced, may as well get a nice frame out of the deal, my friend loves his WTP 4 Seasons. Enough said.

powerlite frame witch isent light but every thing else on the bike is either alum. or carbon so if u have any ideas for a new race frame i'd love to hear about wut you think is the best out there!~!~!o im lookin for an expert XL or a pro jr.

i got a haro monocoque for free, the frame is like 4 lbs, i think, maybe less......

yea i know that was one of the frames i was lookin at but my dad (whos payin for it) says no because he thinks it will be to heavy for a race bike he wants the lightest frame he can possibly find and so far the light frame ive found was the crupi o and the avent.. morpheus but thats carbon so im not to fond of getting that cause i dotn want to have it snap in half on me

the haro backtrails are supposed to be good. Yeah they do weigh in the low 30's but my friend has one and he has no problem riding his racing bike, then going out and riding his backtrail. he says it's a very easy bike to handle considering its weight. costs in the mid 200's.

I ride a backtrail X3 frame. The backtrails are not bad bikes. They wont last forever but the do have a pretty good feel. The stock sprocket needs to change though. That little stamped out peice of steel will bend the fist time you stall on it. I have bent two of those cheap Haro sprockets. The crank set (including pedals) are marginal.

beerman has a couple good frame ideas. as long as your dad will spend $300+ for just a frame. those are more race than the haro's and giants(mosh). haro and mosh have good warranties to original purchaser. the smaller companies have weaker warranties written, but if something goes wrong they will usually stand behind their product. not if you try to grind and bend a chainstay though. they know abuse, and if they warranty it still, consider yourself lucky! they don't have to do anything, but that won't help them sell bikes. my old dk legend has 9 years of street(one peg) dirt, vert, and national nbl racing under its belt. too bad they're are alum now!

we have very different needs because i race and you want to do trails and street up if you willing to up your price by about 40 bucks crupie makes a frame that weighs 2 lbs 13 oz.

i don't ride street anymore. i've just raced for the last seven years. 36th in 22-29 expert class this year. what class do you race bmxbrunette16? did you race grands this year? how'd you do? i didn't know crupi 's frame is that light. is that the xl or the expert/pro size? just wondered! gotta go!

Don't believe the 2lbs. 13oz. crap that Dan's feeds you. It is not correct. If you want my opinion, get a Morpheus. I ride the PRO XL one and absolutely love it. I have raced it, taken it to the trails, and even rode the box at the park with it, and so far, so good. Plus it is lighter than the Crupi. However, Crupi makes a pretty darn nice lookin bike. So I say, choose yourself, but if it were me, I would definitely go with the Avent!

get a supercross. as long as its chromoly it will work. my friend uses his for everything and its his race bike.

Trust me, as long as you aren't slamming your frame against coping (which I hope that you wouldn't since it is a race bike) or beating on the carbon with a hammer, you aren't going to snap it. I looked on their website and yes, the Morpheus does come in Expert XL, and the frame specs are pretty good looking. Also as a side note, Crupi doesn't know the proper way to measure a frame, because a girl that I know has an Expert XL Crupi, and the TT is 21.5". For some reason they advertise it as 20.555". Their measurement is incorrect.
