Books, Movies, Music & Entertainment - What a crappy year for movies.....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
i liked Collateral and actually to my suprise liked the Village, but i did not find them to be classics. Any movies anyone caught that i missed that might make me change my mind about this year?
I haven't watched it yet, but I'm going to pick up "Saved" from Best Buy tomorrow when I get my day off. I heard it was super good.

'Saved' is worth watching; I liked how it showed the web of religion, values and personal choice in many lives and the extremes some hold to.
I also enjoyed Kill Bill 2; there are many things going on and the issues it deals with are so well done that it's fun to watch. It has pretty deep meanings to my wife and I.
Well, a movie doesn't just get to be a 'classic' the month after it's released. But if you mean that none of them really stand out, that's for sure. I have almost no interest in seeing anyof them, except that new documentary "the world according to bush."

I saw the Village, and must say I really liked it. While some of the plot could be poked at, I think the visual element was near perfect. While not a prolific artist, I am a photographer by hobby and tend to notice things like color more than most. The color schemes in this movie really worked.
Collateral was also fun. I really liked the uncomprimising evil of Tom Cruise's character, they didn't try and pull off a change of heart in typical Hollywood fashion. On the visual side, it was one of the first major movies to be filmed on video, HDTV 1080/24p for you technical types, and the effect on the look of the movie was very artful, especially when combined with the harsh lighting found in a city.
I liked Garden State. It was fresh, the characters were well developed, and I felt like I could relate to the emotions the characters were experiencing. I left the theater thinking about my life, which to me marks a movie that goes deeper than just a simple story.
I think I saw a few more, but nothing stands out right now.

The Triplets of Bellville. I can't get that song out of my head and I don't even understand the words. :)

Starsky and Hutch. Not the whole movie, just the scene with Will Ferrel (sp? - the guy from SNL) at the jail!
Hilarious!

it was ok. some good god humor but it was nto great.
Thanks for the tips everyone. i've seen half of the movies recommended already, but some i haven't even heard of.
Saved and Garden State are on my hit list for rentals for sure, i've been putting off going to the theater and seeing Shaun of the Dead, a pal of mine recommended it highly.
How could i have forgotten about Kill Bill, i really think of them as a single movie somewhat like the LOTR trilogy. Awesome stuff but it's so over the top, to me it's almost comedy.
I'm looking forward to Team America World Police, but for a serious movie i'm looking forward to Ray with Jamie Foxx of hopefully bailing out a bland year. We'll see i really was impressed by his acting in Collateral.
Oh and just today i rented a really neat little indie flick Coffee and Cigarettes, it's pretty neat compilation of different actors and famous people shelling out banter over java and smokes.
