Proficiat aan uwe nieuwe tandem!
We just returned from the Interbike show in Las Vegas and we stopped at the Koga Miyata booth. However they did not have any tandems on display.
I believe the 'twintysix' model has reference to its weight: 26 kg. Quite a bit lighter than their TwinTraveller; trekking tandems are popular in Europe but not too well regarded in America.
A very interesting twin double lateral design in your twintysix; should serve you well and comfortably for many kilometers and years to come!
Enjoy!

it's not the weight, it refers to the rim size
Thanks for the correction Jacques! Checking my facts and figures I think your bike would be in the 40 pound range.
But then again, the Koga includes so many things that are standard equipment that would be optional on an American tandem. In the long run, the fun is in the riding!
Where abouts are you in Belgium? Am quite familiar with the country.
Au revoir/Tot ziens!

We have the 2003 model Koga Twin Terra and are very happy with it. What components and brakes do you get on the Twinty Six? Ours came with Deore LX 3x9 and Magura Julie discs and it works great here in the hill country of the Fränkische Schweiz.

Our previous tandem was the same as you have now, but in august we had an accident on our trip to the Dranouter folkfestival. Our twin terra was total loss, the quad that hit us had no damage, and I am still recovering(no helmet on). The twin terra is no longer available and is been replaced by the twintysix.
You can find all the details on : http://www.koga.com/uk/ , look at the specials.

Sorry to hear about your crash. What was wrecked on the bike? Was the frame too far gone? Was it not worth it to get a replacement frame and put the old bike's components on it?
Re crashing: I crashed on my race bike last year and got the typical biker's injuries: broken shoulder and a concussion. I was wearing a helmet but STILL smashed my head really hard. You are lucky you are still alive and have a functioning brain. Do you plan to start wearing a helmet from now on?
Hope you enjoy the new Koga. How does the TwintySix compare to the TwinTerra?
Cheers,
TT
