I've been practicing brazing with a borrowed torch and now I want to buy my own and start building a lugged steel frame. Anybody have any leads on a decent set up with tanks within reasonable driving distance from Boston?
Haven't had much luck with craigslist
(Mods, not sure if I can post an ISO thread here, if not sorry and please delete.)
You are probably better off getting a brand-new set of gauges, hoses, torch & tips. Used welding equipment is often pretty beat and can be dangerous. You can rent the tanks from a welding supply company (or buy them, if you like). I bet Boston has a large number of places that rent (and sell) tanks. Google "welding supplies Boston". I'm in the NYC area and there are dozens down here. You can also buy rigs from many of them as well, but the prices on line are usually much better. I like Smith's AW1A "Airline" torch for light work: I've had one for over 30 years. weldfabulous.com carries them, as do many others.
