Season's Greetings!
My Name is CJ Smith, I am a 43 year old cycling enthusiast with twenty-five years riding experience both on and off road. I am writing to you today because earlier this year I had a drive-side dropout break on a carbon road bike.

I am now trying to find two things. First, a company than can reproduce BOTH dropouts in Ti, NOT aluminum, and second, a place that can repair the damage done.

I have heard of companies doing carbon repair, but thus far I have no leads on the dropouts, so this project is at a stalemate.

I found this forum and thought that perhaps someone could shed some light on this issue.

I would very much appreciate any information that can be provided to initiate a resolution to my bicycle dilemma.

Thanks, in advance, for your time, co-operation and replies to this matter.

NOTE: I posted under framebuilders as well, but posting here is a must since most of the gurus I have met call the "wrench" part of the bike shop home.

Respectfully I Remain,
CJ, "Wrenching" as a U.S.M.M.... since 1986

I would suggest Calfee for repairs: http://www.calfeedesign.com/howtosendrepair.htm

They may also be able to help with sourcing or fabricating replacement dropouts in titanium.

Why not ally? Scared of it happening again?

I'm pretty sure you could get ally dropouts that would last the distance... and zillions more folks could make em up for you.

If your derailleur hanger broke, just get a replaceable one on your new dropout.

Calfee will repair the frame. I have not been able to repair several Trek frames through the shop because Trek will not supply us with new dropouts, Trek Liability even though this voids the warranty. See Calfee's price list for repair cost's, very reasonable.
