i'm looking to build up a cross bike for winter road training and cross racing.
tops on my list right now is an Alan X33 frameset which i will be building with
some campy centaur components. i searched the forums, but came up
with nothing regarding this frame. i thought that i would take a shot to see if
anyone had any comments about Alan frames in general or the X33.
thanks in advance,

I don't think anyone has mroe experience building cross bikes than Alan does. Excel sports has a couple of those, and I keep having to fight the urge to grab one every time I'm in there. Lovely little things they are :)

for a company with such a long history in cross, you don't see many folks riding on
alan frames. perhaps, it is just a matter of being in the usa and alan not being heavily
distributed over here.
Exactly. Most of the Alans you do see are older ones. I have one they made for Colnago, another coach had an old one at the camp we were at. They're around.
Right now, all you really see are bikes from the companies that started building when the SuperCup took off. I think Alan is working on improving their distribution here, but it doesn't seem to be a very important market for them.
Alan bikes are now distributed accross North America by Minneapolis, MN based importer Euromedia Group:

We re-introduced the bikes last year and they are going wild this year. Look for them at the next cross race near you. Call us at 1.866.623.3073 to find a dealer near you or purchase direct.
Word, the best cross frames in the world. :)
