looky at this pic:

it's from the 2010 TDF, the fiziki saddle is set back all the way on the rails + the post has some degree of setback...

Whats up with this?

That the frame is too small?

it depends.... what if the frame has a really shallow seat-post angle but the rest of it fits just right?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's a bike set up for someone else's body.

Stem slammed, so likely couldn't go to a bigger frame (and thus taller head tube) without compromising position. Smaller frame required setback post and saddle.

Or he has really long femurs.

Either way, I'm going to take a wild guess and say it works for him.

lol. He'd get crucified in BF. I guess he wants the smallest possible bike. Lowest head tube anyway.

Nothing wrong with the setback. Modern bikes have steep seat tubes, so the seating position is already forward, so you need more set back to compensate. Also, the further the set back, the less weight on the arms, some thing thats very desirable. Especially when you have that much seat to bar drop, more set back gets the weight off.

i'm a long femur, short arm, short stem guy too.

i ride a slightly small frame for my height and standover, and my saddle is slammed to the back of my (setback) seatpost and i have a ton of saddle to bar drop.

but its the best fit i've ever gotten.

That looks photo-chopped. It's like he's on a 24" wheeled bike or something. I guess it's just the angle of the shot, because I've never noticed anything weird about how he looks on the bike before.
