My early 90s Basso, my wife's 80s (?) Bianchi, and now the newly rebuilt 70's Bottecchia.

The "proper" size for me would be between the Basso and the Bottecchia. However, I have always preferred a slightly smaller frame size and raced a Cannondale, which is the same size as the Bott, for a number of years.

Three Italian bikes, eh! Well, three Italian roadies from the sixties and seventies showed, from different sources, a few days apart and all three were delivered to my door.

Your OP has, sort of, special meaning for me. I have been thinking of painting two of the three bicycles black (the paint/art is either gone or very rough). But I was unsure of doing so because I was unaware that the Bottecchia bicycle was sold in black, in those days. The catalogs lists color choices as flamboyant. Is black flamboyant? Anyway...

Thanks for the picture of your black bike. Two Bottecchia bicycles will soon shed their silver and red coats, to slip into something black, sexy and inexpensive. Gonna paint both bicycles with a paint brush.

Thanks for that. Since we bought it used, I have never been sure of its lineage. Ooops, actually I believe it is a Squadra. Anyway that is what the sticker on the top tube says.

AH HA! just the tidbit I needed the Trofeo and Squadra both came in Eletric Rose that year. the '86 Squadra had a Formula 2 frame. OEM was mostly Ofmega

OH aslong as we are showing off our threesomes. how about a trio of celeste Bianchis?

Black is generally not flamboyant...except when it's on an Italian bicycle. :)

if you are referring to mine, we have talked about it before :) the bianchi is a reparto corse cyclocross frameset and the fork is a curt goodrich (http://www.curtgoodrich.com/). it was with the frame when i bought it and handmade in the twin cities:
