Hey everyone,

I'm currently on tour in South America. I'm riding my trusty LHT from Ushuaia, Argentina to Bogota, Colombia. I'm keeping a blog, I thought some people would be interested:

I've been on the road for about 5 weeks. It's been great so far. Some really tough weather though, the wind here is absolutely insane. Especially south of the Carretera Astral.

Cheers,
Andy

We are now in San Rafael south of Mendoza - heading south. What's your route?

I see the "targeted advertising" sidebar on this thread is offering me a date with a young woman from Columbia.

I´m in La Junta Chile right now Nancy. I´m going to cross back into Argentina in a day or two via Futaleufu, and make my way north mostly following ruta 40. At some point I need to get back into Chile, because I am going to go to Santiago, but I´m not sure where I am going to do the crossing.

So there is a very good chance we´ll cross paths! What's your plan?

We'll be continuing down south on 40 until Bariloche. From there, we have no idea where we'll go - but we'll cross each other before that.

So You are headed north again, apparently, given Ushuaia is on Tierra Del Fuego,

down in Penguin land. not much south of there, but the Southern Ocean

It's kinda funny to see some things that you know as "normal" from a foreigner's viewpoint, as families renting rooms in their own home (pretty common outside Buenos Aires, we are just too paranoid here in BA to do it ;)) and "zapallitos" ("zapallo" = pumpkin, "zapallito" = what you cooked, at least in Argentina, may be different in other countries).

@ Nancy, great, hopefully we can meet up at some point soon!

Yeah I`m sure many of my observations seem obvious to anybody who lives here. Thanks for the clarification on zapallitos vs zapallo, I'll fix the page.

It's the same way the other way around :p If i go to the USA i'd say "WTF? These guys eat bacon for breakfast?", for example :D
