Can anyone shed some light on the entry process for the TransAlp challenge? I've read several accounts that say there are thousands of people attempting to register every year, but the organizers set the limit to about 500 teams. Does anyone know how the organizers "choose" who is accepted into the race?

Is it first come first served? Is it a lottery?
