I love my mountain bike!!!!

I am so addicted to biking though I want to buy a roadie as well. I'm going to wait until spring as I am going to ride my MTB with studded tires during the winter. Then again there may be good sales soon as selling time for bikes is coming to an end. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

For a roadie to ride to work any suggestions? I would like to spend no more than $500 CDN ($400 USD). However if my $$$ limit isn't practicle I'll reconsider it. I don't want to buy a piece of s**t. I'm not worried about theft as I can park it in my cube and at home it goes in the basement. Thus, I do not need to buy a crappy bike to put off thieves.

Go test ride some bikes. Start looking for a good used bike.
This will give you an idea of what's out there, and what a good bike costs.

If you still want one, do what late said and start test riding and looking at used bikes. I don't think you can get too much for $400 new. Also look at cyclocross bikes that might give you the style bike you want but be a little better for commuting.

I use my Raleigh R600 about 40% of the time for commuting. I also use an old Univega Custom Maxima. Both are road bikes but I have equiped my Univega with a rack and panniers becasue I also use my Raleigh for training and it's a big pain to take parts off/on before and after a training ride. If you get a road bike get an older one and fix it up.
