Anybody know any good trails to ride on in the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland area?
I know there is one in Braddock st. in Va, but that is kinda far to where I live.
Well i'm not from anywhere near there,bu the new bicycling mag was listing great trails and included one at Seneca Creek state park in Gaithersburg,Md.It says they're technical, plenty of obstacels and for any skill level.

The Rails to trails book for the area list one from basically DC to Leesburg and several in the Md area. There is one from near Mt. Vernon. Along the river near National airport.
Down in Va I ride some of the battlefields. I haven't gotten there yet but was told that the Petersburg battlefield is good espicially including par of ft. Story (it was a solder that told me about it). Also a lot of the state parks have good trails. I know that down near Holiday lake st. park there are several.

Try the C&O Canal National Park towpath on the north shore of the Potomac River. It is a nice relaxing trail that goes from DC to West Virginia all along the old canal. Not technical, but it is very fun and kept up pretty well - finally something useful for our tax dollars. Some sections can get a tad muddy, but you can really fly. Even in the dog days of summer it is refreshingly cool because of the shade trees.
I used to ride it every day just south of Hagerstown, Maryland over to West Virginia and back when I lived up there.
If you go there you must make sure you have a headlight and tail light on the bike. Also, you will need a warning device like a bell or horn. If you are under 18 you will need a helmet as well.
