Just wonder if anybody is using a BB plastic sleeve in a set of UT cups as a extra protection for the bearings and cups?

Thanks.

A-ha. I'll defer to operator. He's got some good knowledge and experience with modern stuff.

they The Ultra Torque is sealed bearings, not loose balls..
I don't see the need ,
Unless you have a very cut out BB shell ..
the contamination comes from the outside world..

+ I dont think the external BB cups threaded mounts
are screwing in as far as a cup and cone BB parts did ..

As long as the plastic sleeve has a large enough diameter so that it doesn't contact the moving surfaces, I don't see as that it would hurt anything. It seems that it would be a good idea to help prevent contamination of the hirth joint.

The UT cups* come with seals in lieu of the old-school plastic tube. This is both more effective (plastic tubes are hard to seal properly at the ends) and convenient. If you need extras, the part number is OC-RE002.

*except the SR cups, because the SR cranks' ceramic bearings are apparently bulletproof.

Cut a liner out of a beer can, and put it inside the BB shell that should do,
just as well .
A Condensation drain is a good thing for the unpainted insides of steel tubes.

Ok found a sleeve between my stuff, a shimano one and the girth thing does not fit in the middle of the sleeve. So i had to improvise and i cut a piece of plastic from a plastic bottle, and joined it together with some tape. Done.

So far so good but i wont know for certain until i put the crankset in the frame, maybe tonite.

Wonder if the sleeve of a shimano external cups BB will work, it might the issue is to find one.
