Aside from championship distances, what are typical lengths of time trials in US amateur racing? 3-6-8 miles or so, mostly?

I'm thinking of weekend stage races and local series, just trying to get a feel for typical distances around the country.

10 miles is common.

20k is also somewhat common.

40k is the most common championship distance, as you mentioned.

+1

Also super common in FL are the super short 3-4 mile TT's which are part of the very few stage races here.
I have rarely seen a 40k TT as part of something other than championships or stand alone TT's in amateur racing.

A lot of ours are 15k/9mi, state champs (T)TT is 40k I think.

Always too long for me though.. hate friggin' TTs.

Creeky we don't get many races with a TT, Ft Davis and Fayetteville both are under 20mi. Most of the other TT event's tend to fall into the 20mile range other than the State Champs. I wish we had more races with TT's though.

Local TT series races tend to be a bit longer, 15 miles or so?
TTs in stage races are 9-12 miles, (a bit more for big stage races like Elkhorn/Hood)
Championship TTs are usually 40km ish

mmmmm, mmmm.... I am in favor of TTs :)

In SoCal the stand alone TT series has events ranging from 14km-20km plus a few weekends with 40km options. The district TT is 37.5km. Stage race TTs seem to run anywhere from 5km uphill (Callville Bay) to 22km on a flat course (Valley of the Sun).

It's the same in Louisiana. Lame distances. I asked a promoter why and he said they were afraid some triathalete might come in and win.

Did I mention lame?

Super duper lame.

Which ones? Alsation has deleted it...New Braunfels hasn't had a TT in 5 years...Mineral Wells can kiss my 40+ ass that promoter isn't getting a dime from me this entire season.

I was thinking of Texarkana and Kilgore. Also Fayetteville and Fort Davis and Cotton Patch. Plus a few in LA but I don't think the Austin crew ever drives that far.

Kilgore... About 30 miles east of me.

So you're in Tyler? I'm headed that way in Feb for a kid school event at UT-T, would love to get some route tips from you. I know my way around the North side of town ok, but South / SE is unfamiliar to me.

I think the Kilgore race conflicts with Track Nats.

Small world, when did they live in Tyler? My parents know just about everyone here.

I live a few miles south of Tyler so I know every good route South/SE. The Sunday club ride leaves from the UT-T parking lot and it's the old Beauty and the Beast Route. I'd be happy to show you some of my favorite back road routes too.

In southwest Ohio, they range from 10-25 miles with the exception of Calvins Challenge which is around 100 miles.
