I'm knew to biking and do not know bikes that much, this looks like a boys Trek correct, or is it just a small men's?
Looking at it it looks like it says 220 (which is a boys bike and with having that seat im saying boys correct?)
I'm trying to figure out what it is and if its worth the 30 buck

Try going to www.vintage-trek.com and looking up Trek MT Track 220. It describes all of the models from 1997 through 2002. There were comments elsewhere on bikeforum about the Trek 220 having "bottom of the barrel" Shimano components. That said, I suggest you check the bike over carefully to make sure the wheels are true, the brakes and shifters work properly, and that the frame is undamaged. Unlike steel, aluminum frames fail catastrophically if they have been damaged. I've actually seen one break in half without warning dumping a kid in the middle of a street with two halves of a frame underneath him. 30 bucks is not much for a working bike. It is probably better than buying a new mass-merchandiser bike. I've bought some pretty expensive older bikes for less than $30 but it is often a matter of being in the right place at the right time and knowing what makes a bike worth buying.

If it shifts well, the wheels, the crankset, the chainrings and freewheel, the pedals, shock and the frame is in good shape I think it is a great deal. Start with the value of the bike in good shape and subtract what it would cost to fix (time and material) each thing. If you come out with a price greater than $30, it's a deal, otherwise pass.

I'd say it's a 2004 220. MSRP $259. (http://bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2004&Brand=Trek&Model=Mt.%20Track%20220&Type=bike)
It is definitely a boys bike with 24" wheels. Too big for a first bike for a 7 year old. More like 10-13 I'd imagine.
If it's in as good a shape as it seems like in the tiny CL pic (looks like it's hardly been ridden), I'd say it's worth $30. Just check it out, as the others have said.

The 220 is a 24" wheeled bike for youths.
