This is the thread for those who will not be able to complete the 2011 Century-A-Month challenge.

The Century-A-Month challenge requires that a cyclist ride at least one century in each month of the year. But sometimes because of weather, accidents, or other commitments riding a century in each month of the year becomes impossible. And sometimes people get into cycling long distances partway through the year, but would like to join a challenge for motivation.

Even if we can't participate in the CAM challenge, it's nice to have a place to log our centuries throughout the year ... so here it is!

The challenge: Let's see how many centuries we can ride this year ... in any month of the year!!

Get ready ... get set ...............

I'm planning to do six organized centuries this year. I rode one back at the end of February in St. George, UT. Temps were a chilly 38degrees farenheit and raining hard when we started. Didn't get much better throughout the ride. I was glad to be done with that one!

Salt Lake Century coming up shortly on May 21st. Pony Express Century June 6th. ULCER August 6th. Cache Valley Century or Epik Double Centruy on August 27th (I haven't decided yet). Heber Valley Century September 24th.

I'll likely do some other non-organized centuries during June and July.

My lifetime goal is to do a century in every state. I just finished NC, IL, and NJ over the past three weekends, and I'll do NE and IA this coming weekend. I don't think this quite fits this challenge, but if all the stars align, I'll have finished 16 centuries in 2011.

I list them all on my blog at 50centuries.blogspot.com .

Probably not quite what you had in mind when you started the thread, Machka, but I'm up to 10 already. Can't call it a century/month since I missed January. In fact most of those in the last 9 weeks. No definite goal, just working out to be a century laden year for me.

That's EXACTLY what I had in mind!! Racking up the centuries. :D

Back in 2002 I did 19 centuries, in 2003 and 2004, I did 36 of them each year, and in 2005 I did 31 ... I've kept doing centuries every year since then ... but fewer. Rowan and I have 5 this year so far.

Just finished my third century this past weekend. June, July and August... Doing pretty well but being in the northeast no point in the century a month thread.... As soon as the cold weather comes in my rides get shorter. Looking for a September ride in the area.

I've been riding ~15 months and have begun a tradition of doing one solo century a year (at the end of the season) just to say I did, despite finding them pretty boring, however, I actually really enjoyed it this year. Did it a bit earlier in the year and the weather was consistent enough that I didn't have to take a single extra article of clothing. Maybe next year I can do one in the mountains to make it more interesting.

I ate on the bike and took 150 oz. worth of liquids to try to keep my stopped time down. Still had to stop to get another 50 oz. of water, pee a few times, and deal with a giant staple which had become deeply acquainted with my rear tire. The one non-essential stop was at a bike shop I've always wanted to check out. I had them lube my cassette which was brand new, and bone dry.

100 miles today, in 7.5 hours, my 11th of the season, including one double metric(last Sunday). All of them solo, and unsupported. I missed July, August, and September altogether, and have done one each of the last four weeks.

This is last year's thread (2011), but I was curious how everyone did. How many centuries or longer rides did you ride in 2011?

Rowan and I rode 12 centuries in 2011, as a part of the CAM Challenge. 10 of them were on our tandem, and 2 were on our singles.
