New to this forum and wanted to know if there is a ride planned for New Years Day in the Ct area. I'm in Manchester Ct and can travel some. I am hoping for a ride if weather permits. Any help would be deeply appreciated. I should also include that I am looking for a road ride as I don't mountain bike.

I don't know of any organized New Year's rides, but I just wanted to say welcome! I'm up in Massachusetts, but my rides bring me down to your neck of the woods pretty regularly, I love those Connecticut farm roads! Tomorrow's forcast looks like it would make for decent riding, but the roads near me are covered in sand and salt from last week's snowstorm, and there are still some slick spots to watch out for.

Hi Jerry and Steve,
I'm in western Ct near Lake Waramaug. I plan to ride New Years Day at the lake either solo on the tandem or on a beater bike.....this magic salt on the road is a bit corrosive and it tastes like crap too!!!! Would love to do a "HAPPY NEW YEAR" group ride but for many the "hibernation syndrome" sets in at Thanksgiving or sooner.....Ride on, my friends...and may you have a very happy and prosperous 2011!!!

I thought I was the only one who didn't like snow melt flavor. Bike is on the trainer until that s**t is off the roads. Had a beater bike last year so I did not worry about it. Gave it to a buddy so I'm down to one bike at the moment. It was a nice day for a ride though!
