I was thinking about taking the bike south to MA this weekend where its supposed to be pretty warm. I am concerned about all the road grime with the bike on the roof after about 8 combined hours on the interstate. Is there anything you do to deal with that?

Wrap it in shrink wrap for the journey. It should be fine. Take the roll of shrink wrap with you in case you need to repair it and for on the way home. Or get some kind of a bike cover that won't rip up in the wind.
