I am building one of my good friends a fixed gear for christmas and I am working with an old 1980s giant manufactured nishiki century. I am unsure of replacing the bottom bracket/crankset because I do not know what size it is. Currently everything is stock and I don't want to waste a bunch of money buying a bottom bracket/crankset that does not fit. Does anybody know the size of the bb offhand?
any help would be appreciated.
Ross

When I hit the wall like that, I take the part off the bike and take it to the Local Bike Store with me.

The bottom brackets and cranks need special tools... It will become expensive to buy 1980's tools to only use them once. Might be easier and less expensive to have a bike shop handle the bb and crank.
