Just installed this rack a couple of days ago, haven't had a chance to load it up yet.

c'mon Zoltani, get that rack level. It messes up the lines of the bike so much right now.

Or is it just a bad photo?

Is that an axiom rack? What frame is that?

When I look at it at straight on it looks to be level. It's a surly cross check frame.

I'm about to go on a beer run, so I will try to take some photos.

what brand is the rack?

It's an axiom journey rack. Supposed capacity of 75 kilos...yeah right! It is way less stable than my other rack, but that is a handmade bruce gordon rack, so they aren't even comparable. The axiom rack seemed to work with this load, but I had to take care when climbing out of the saddle to not rock the bike back and forth too much.

I'm guess total load here is about 30lbs+

The road to the grocery store is a four lane divided highway, 45mph. A bit hairy, but makes you really pick up the speed.

This was my first loaded fixed ride, and I liked it quite a bit. That extra weight makes the legs work a bit harder, and it was a pretty rewarding ride. I think I might start throwing some full gallon jugs in the panniers for recreational rides, good training for the touring season :D

I've got a axiom streamliner DLX on the way, I hope it's stable.

Not loaded, but with rack and fold-out bags:

Would love to see some Racks or baskets up front! With bikes having Drops, Bullhorns or Risers. I am also looking for a way to get the heavy stuff off my back. Do you guys think the rear rack makes for a more stable ride? It seems like a loaded front rack will affect steering??

I'm in the market for some front pannier lowriders.

Btw, I really recommend my rack: http://www.racktime.com/en/rear-carriers/addit
Mega stable.

How well your bike handles front loads has a lot to do with the geometry of the bike... with a properly designed bike and proper racks there should not have much effect on steering at all.

Now... showing front bags with low riders... and a few more gears as the Rockies beckon.

My bike in bum mode.

Steamroller with Topeak Seatpost rack loaded with laundry and detergent tied down with old tubes. Also note the sweet uncapped risers that are wrapped in old mountain tubes and duct tape. The fabulous model is my guitarist who doesnt think I need to look any more hobo than usual.

The bike is super back heavy when I have it loaded like this so I def want to avoid wheelies but that would just be dumb anyways.

I bet grocery shopping would be a lot more fun for me if I had racks instead of carrying a gallon of milk, eggs and bread on my back. The bread always loses.

185478185477Swobo Sanchez. Kona 700c cross fork with XTR V-brake. CETMA 5 RAIL. This rack is incredible! I have been a bike messenger in San Francisco for 5 years. This rack has been super dependable for many miles, many hills but most importantly many lbs (be that boxes, rolls or people). I have even mounted panniers of the sides of the rack for some light to medium touring.
Check out the CETMA website:

@ the 2 guys (gender neutral) with the Schwinns:

Would it be possible to get a close up of where the racks are attached to the seat stays?

I'm assuming you've got them attached using the little p clamps, no? Just kinda wanna get a close-up of how it turned out.

I wouldn't exactly call it loaded. The basket is big enough to carry as much as I am comfortable with on the SS.

Me? well unfortunately I don't have any pictures of how it was attached, but I did use plastic ties and a bandana:thumb:

Thanks for the responses from both of you.

BTW, those clips you have look a helluva lot better than the ones the bike shop sold me.

#1: Hardware store, ask for p clamps.

#2: This site (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/ms21919clamps.php), sells a variety of diameters for super cheap.

#3: Rivendell (http://www.rivbike.com/products/show/nitto-band-clamps/20-016).
