Guys, gals, our friend Daspydyr apparently crashed in an endo on the 13th of December and has broken the C1/C2 vertebra in his neck. See the post in my visitor messages, and here's his profile to post some best wishes or for those of you that are Christian, some prayers (He's Christian, remember). I'm crossposting this both here and in Clydes, where he is a contributor, as well.

This is the message he posted to my profile: It's public, so I can share it....

Happy New Year Tom. I've enjoyed reading your recent celebration of your new you. I'm sending this note about the me, just to let BF know.

On Dec. 13 I went end for end and broke c1/c2, top of the spine. I spent 8 days in ICU. I am very fortunate to being fully functioning. I am screwed into a halo for the next 90 days. But I will be able to bike again. I miss spending time on BF's. but have some new time constants. Take Care.

Sounds like a long time off the bike, but lots of people are on hiatus for the next 3 months anyway, end of March, out of the Halo, probably back on the bike by the middle of May, also sounds like a long time off work as well, BF can be helpful when on the mend, just need a laptop at an odd angle that you can see it and type on it, as long as you don't need to hen peck the keys.

Adding him to my prayer list.....

Get well Das! Sounds like a hard get off, but one you will survive, although your professional apple bobbing career may be in jeopardy!.

Daspydyr, get well soon. Keep turning the pedals in your mind and be ready for the real ones. Can't wait to hear you're bacck in the saddle.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am mending and trying to be patient. I have to wear the halo for 90 days (21 down, 69 to go) and then 3 months physical therapy. Keep posting those pictures and stories. I really enjoy them.

I'm thankful for you that that's "all it was" -- could have been devastating. Be blessed, heal well, and pedal on.
