There is also a similar system here in Dublin (Ire) http://www.dublinbikes.ie/ that has been in operation since Sept. 2009.

We don't get people riding around in swimsuits. Must be something to do with the weather.

What we've discovered is that a lot of business partners see bike sharing as the wave of the future -- and where they would like to position themselves. I'm not sure exactly why this is. Partly to do with employee health, but mainly, I suspect, as the future of transportation.

I don't understand why this is. Probably as a confluence of events. For the same reason that when you watch just about any automotive commercial on television, you see someone on a bicycle doing a cameo ride by.

It's been a great success here in Dublin where they are planning to extend it's range with an increase in stations and bikes. The expected vandalism never happened.

Here an annual card costs €10 or about $13. I have a card but haven't used it much as I have my own bike. Mostly used by people living in apartments or people afraid of getting their bikes stolen in city I'd say.

$13 for an annual membership card? Man, B-Cycle in Denver charges $65/yr.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Denver's B-Cycle. So much so I even wrote my own app for Palm WebOS to find kiosks since no one else had yet.

Will be watching with interest.
