I'm going to be out here in Palm Springs for a while (I'm from LA), and I'm wondering if there's anyone else who's a regular bike commuter in the area.

Specifically, I'd be curious about what lighting setup you use. I've got a 200 lumen DiNotte headlight/Superflash combo that was fine for LA, but it gets REALLY dark here at night, and I'm not sure that's going to be adequate...

I terms of you being seen darker is better. By that I mean that your bicycle light source will contrast sharply with the surrounding darkness. As far as you seeing, you won't have the advantage of help from other vehicle lights, however, when it is really dark out you'll be surprised how effective your lights are. Try them, I think you'll like them.
